Scene 11 – The Bean

Scene 11 – The Bean

The Saint Andrew Parish “Journey to Jesus” makes one of its last stops at Millennium Park.  While at Millennium Park, Chicagian’s and visitors alike will undoubtedly want to drop by Cloud Gate Plaza, aka “the Bean”.  There are many popular Chicago downtown loop sights, however this work of public art is a focal point to those walking and driving along Michigan Ave.  You can’t miss it … it’s one of the world’s largest, permanent outdoor art installations of our times.

For those who visit this massive structure, can appreciate it’s shiny, bright and reflective exterior.  You can even touch “the Bean”, the artist encourages all of us to do so.  The underside of “the Bean” serves as an entrance to this meeting place since its unveiling in 2004.
God invites us to gather in spaces just like “the Bean”.  He encourages us to reflect and look deep within ourselves to find life’s meaning similar to looking at our own reflections from “the Bean”.   All are welcome.  Even though Cloud Gate Plaza is closed for now, soon enough we will come together again and enjoy this beautiful place, but in the meantime, let God place his hands on each of us and touch our hearts.
