In Sunday’s gospel we hear words of great love said over the bread, “Take and eat, this is my body,” and over the wine, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.” Jesus proclaimed these words at the Last Supper, and the priest prays them at every Mass. Think about all the people in the long history of the Church who have participated in the Mass. Think about parents, grandparents, and ancestors in faith, who have heard these words of love. Now you continue this traditions, so that the the next generation may participate more fully in the life of the Church.
