When was the last time you felt you were in the presence of God? On a retreat? In the presence of nature? Holding a newborn baby? (Or maybe you’re not sure you’ve ever felt this way?) Today, we hear about the Transfiguration, when Peter, James, and John have an encounter with Jesus in all his glory. After hearing the voice of God, even Peter is stunned into silence. I’m guessing few of us hear commands directly from God, but how can we practice placing ourselves in God’s presence everyday? Do we find that through meditation, reading Scripture, journaling, or taking the time to seek and soak in beauty. Lent calls us to deepen prayer. We can start that by simply quieting ourselves and our minds.
