Join the Team - Be a Kairos Leader for Others
The North Side Kairos has been a collaborative effort by Chicago parishes for 20 years. The retreat brings together individuals who have been on Kairos from different high school programs and parishes around Chicago to provide a coed Kairos retreat for junior, senior, and recently graduated high school students who do not have access to a Kairos retreat through their school.
Teens who previously participated in a Kairos retreat as a leader or participant are encouraged to fill out the application to serve as leader through the link below. The planned dates for this retreat are Friday, August 19 to Saturday, August 21, 2022 at Bellarmine Retreat House in Barrington, IL.
What you’ll get out of serving as a leader:
-
- Exposure to how Kairos is done at other schools/parishes.
- Leadership development
- Spiritual growth and deeper connection with God
- Satisfaction of making Kairos happen for others who would not otherwise have the chance.
- An opportunity to shape future Kairos retreats for NSK participants
Expectations:
- A donation of your choosing to the North Side Kairos scholarship fund (your retreat fee is covered by a grant from the McLaughlin Faith Foundation.)
- Attendance at scheduled meetings over the summer.
- Openness to growth and willingness to share your talents with others in Christian community.
- Participation in an online follow-up survey.
Leadership applications will be accepted through June 1, 2022.
We encourage you to share this link with other teen Kairos retreatants who would like to share their gift of leadership.
Supervision of the retreat is collaboratively held by adults assisting from multiple parishes with oversight by Saint Andrew parish. Parents are encouraged to contact the adult leaders of the retreat with inquiries about the retreat and its supervision at any time, by emailing northside.kairos@gmail.com or calling David Heimann at 773-525-3016.
