In today’s Gospel, even John the Baptist has trouble seeing Jesus for who he really is! Although John is Jesus’ cousin, and although John baptized Jesus and has heard about all the miracle Jesus ahs been performing, he still sends his disciples to ask if Jesus is the one sent by God. Perhaps we also have times where we struggle to see Jesus clearly, to know what he is doing in our lives, or to really trust that he is our Savior who loves us. That is why we gather at Mass to proclaim his mighty works and to see and touch and taste his miraculous power. As we prepare our hearts to receive Jesus through this season of hopeful anticipation, may we be given the grace to see and trust Christ more fully.
