This year’s campaign invites givers to “step up” as we raise money to enhance the safety and beauty of our church steps. The railing on and around the steps of the church have been an eye sore for years. Some iron rails have rusted through, and many rails could easily be broken with someone’s bare hands.
At night, the steps of the church are dark and present a potential tripping hazard for someone with limited vision.
When a person in need grabs onto the rails, they need assurance that they will be safe.
In the past, patrons of Saint Andrew have stepped up to improve specific projects on Giving Tuesday. Raising $4,500 to purchase a new outdoor nativity. This has become the centerpiece of our Come to the Manager outdoor prayer service which will return on December 13, 14, 15, & 21.
We’ve also raised $5,600 to install a new crucifix in the gymnasium. Installed before the pandemic, this beautifully painted work of art is a fitting addition to our gymnasium as a witness for why the building stands – in memory and service to our savior.
This year our goal is to raise $6,000 in a single day to ensure that the rusty old railing that surrounds the front of church can be replaced this Spring. The new center railing will be similar to the railing seen here (these images are proposal samples).
The new railing will have LED lighting included in the structure of the railing allowing soft lighting to better illuminate the steps of the church, a real need for individuals who have difficulty seeing in the dim streetlight from Paulina.
In addition to the safety, the new railing will enhance the beauty of the entrance to the church for years to come. Guests, visitors, and new parishioners will have a strong first impression of Saint Andrew thanks to your donation!
On Giving Tuesday, most donors have given from $25 to $500 to help us reach our goal. It would be our biggest Giving Tuesday to date to reach or exceed our goal of $6,000. Help us make this exciting day of giving happen!
