In reflection upon institutionalized racism that plagues our church, city, state, country, and world, many have been asking “What can I do to respond?”
There are many important ways to respond which range from personal disposition and growth to changes in litigation and government structures. There is also a material inequality that we can alleviate by partnering with institutions that are addressing local societal structures.
That is why we are pleased to promote Greenlining: A Project for the Soul of the City which is being organized by All Saints Episcopal Church to our north in partnerships with the North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council.
We are looking for parishioners to donate directly and additional parishioners who are willing to help coordinate and promote the initiative to help the organizing bodies raise $200,000 as a down payment to the development of 200 new homes in Lawndale to rebuild this historically black neighborhood and sustain it through vibrant community resources.
